Hello!  My name is Carla Plunkett.  I am thrilled and honored to be a member of the staff at Grove Valley Elementary School!  My passion and calling in life is teaching.  My mission for the young students that enter my classroom is to ignite a flame in each child so that they will become a lifelong learner in every area of their life and soar even beyond our highest expectations.  This next year I will teach my students to dream gigantic dreams, and they will learn how to work hard to make their dreams come true! 

I entered the teaching profession in 1980 as a fourth grade teacher in Antlers, Oklahoma. I have also taught fourth and fifth graders in Temple and Paris, Texas.  In 1990 our family returned to Oklahoma, and I joined the incredible team of educators at Deer Creek Schools as a first grade teacher. All of my years at Deer Creek have been with my first grade friends!  I am also a Great Expectations Instructor and a National Board Certified Teacher.

My husband, Tom, is a speech/government teacher and football coach at Del City High School. We are blessed with two wonderful children who are Deer Creek graduates. Ross is a private guitar teacher, player, and song writer. Andrea is a teacher at The Children’s Place at Integris Southwest Medical Center. I attend Henderson Hills Baptist Church where I love being a part of the Worship Team Choir.
