Welcome to another great school year at Grove Valley
Elementary. I have taught school for the past fourteen
years. I taught fourth grade in Arlington, Texas, for
four years. The last ten years, I have taught fifth
grade at Putnam City Central Intermediate, Nichols Hills
Elementary, five years at Deer Creek Elementary, and
now, my third year at the fabulous Grove Elementary. I
spent three years at the University of Oklahoma and
enjoyed cheerleading for the Sooners, and spending time
in with my Chi-Omega sorority. Upon graduation, I spent
my final year at the University of Central Oklahoma in
Edmond, and graduated with my degrees in Elementary and
Early Childhood Education.
You may have seen me in the newspaper as I have been
acknowledged for my creative ways in which I teach Math
and Science, and was also published in the Daily
Oklahoman for the innovative way in which I teach
Writing. I have also been a past recipient and
participant in the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence
Colonial Williamsburg Summer Institute. I also served
on the Deer Creek Elementary Grant Writing team. The
amazing efforts of the team won the school an $80,000
grant from the OETT. I was also honored as the NBA’s
Teacher of the Quarter and featured in the National
Basketball Association’s magazine.
My love for Science took me away from teaching for one
year as I learned all about the oil and gas industry
while at Chesapeake Energy. But my passion for the
classroom, and the opportunity to be a part this
wonderful school, brought me back to what I love the
most. This past summer I got married in beautiful Cabo
San Lucas, Mexico. My wonderful husband is an Associate
Landman for Chesapeake Energy. This year I will
continue grad school at the University of Central
Oklahoma and work towards an Educational Leadership
degree (K-12 Administration). Outside of school, I
enjoy spending time with my cat, Max, and two gigantic
dogs, Missie and Colton. I love to cook, travel and OU
Sports… Boomer Sooner! Above all, I LOVE to see my
favorite Grove Valley Antlers every day. My amazing
nephew is in third grade this year, and my niece is in
Kindergarten! I am looking forward to a fabulous new
school year at Grove Valley Elementary!
