These ten years with Deer Creek have passed quickly and
I have enjoyed it immensely. The excitement of being
part of the opening of Grove Valley Elementary was
beyond all expectations, and I am back for another great
year. The new technology, anticipation of having a
broadcasting system, along with new staff and students,
makes coming to school each day a new adventure.
Although I have lived in Texas and Arkansas, I am
still an Illini, but continue to be mesmerized by the
cowboy and Indian flavor of Oklahoma. I have been
lassoed in by the warmth of the people and the fact that
our two grandchildren live here does help.
Educational opportunities have extended to teaching
pre-kindergarten through 6th grade,
administrative intern, principal of two Christian
schools, Early Childhood and Title coordinator for
Putnam City schools, and a university professor for 14
years. Special projects include P.A.S.S. revision
committee, author for Scotts Foresman, beginning the
state’s four year old and Reading Recovery programs.
For the past eight years I have been a Great
Expectation’s instructor and enjoy speaking at regional
and national math and reading conferences.
My husband David, Chaplain at Mercy Hospital, and I have
two married daughters.
Our precious grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle, consume all
of our free time. We attend Metropolitan Baptist Church
were I am involved in the deaf, women’s, prison, and
children’s ministries.
I received my Masters in early childhood from Southern
Nazarene University and a Masters in Administration from
the University of Central Oklahoma. Teaching children
how to think, to not fear mathematics, and to fall in
love with reading is why I am passionate about what I
do. Children are the greatest gift we have and I enjoy
working with every one of them.
