I have been a principal in the Deer Creek School District since 1995.  Prior to coming to Deer Creek I was an assistant principal in the Putnam City School District.  My previous teaching experiences include kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grades in both Putnam City and the Oklahoma City Public School systems.  I was named the new principal for Grove Valley in the summer of 2008.  This is my third new school to open up.  As principal of DCES, we opened the doors of the new facility in 2002.  While in Putnam City, I served on a new school committee and helped to open Ralph Down's Elementary as a teacher.  I look forward to opening Grove Valley in August 2009.

 I was given the special honor of being named the Principal of the Year for the National Southwest Region several years ago.  I was also named the District 7A Principal of the Year for Deer Creek, Putnam City, Bethany, Edmond, and Western Heights.

  My passion is working with children, teachers, and parents in the Deer Creek School District.  I am married to Bob Straughn who is Operations Director for McKesson Drug Company.  I have two sons, Jon who graduated from the University of Oklahoma and lives and works in Norman.  My younger son David is in the military.

 It is a privilege to be principal at Deer Creek Grove Valley.
